PUBLIC WORKERS STRIKE

On June 1 2007, about 700 000 public workers across South Africa embarked on a nationwide strike, demanding 12 % more pay. Government does not want to go further then 6,5%. To increase the pressure on the authorities and to raise their voices, thousands of public workers joined marches across the country on June 13, 2007. These pictures were taken in Cape Town, where over 3 000 of them met at the gates of Parliament. Non-violence, chanting, and posters and pamphlets against Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi dominated the March.

This post leaves a very strong sense of accomplishment...it seems there may be hope for the people of South Africa to get their wages increased if they fight for it. :)
